Method
- Step 1: Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C). Do not grease the cake pan; this helps the cake cling to the sides for a better rise.
- Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Step 3: In another bowl, whisk together the oil, egg yolks, water, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined.
- Step 4: Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until smooth and fully incorporated.
- Step 5: In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites with cream of tartar until stiff peaks form.
- Step 6: Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the batter in three additions.
- Step 7: Pour the batter into an ungreased 10-inch tube pan, ensuring even distribution.
- Step 8: Bake for 55 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Step 9: Once baked, invert the pan onto a wire rack and let the cake cool completely before removing it from the pan.
- Step 10: Serve as desired, either plain or with your choice of frosting or fruit.
Notes
