Method
- Step 1: Start by bringing a large pot of salted water to a boil. Once boiling, add the spaghetti and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Remember to reserve 1 cup of pasta water before you drain it.
- Step 2: In a large skillet, heat the extra virgin olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced garlic and red pepper flakes, cooking until the garlic turns golden and fragrant, about 2 minutes.
- Step 3: Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet, tossing to coat it in the garlic oil. If the pasta seems a little dry, gradually add some of the reserved pasta water until you reach your desired consistency.
- Step 4: Season with salt to taste, and toss in the chopped parsley for that fresh burst of flavor.
- Step 5: Serve immediately, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese if desired. Enjoy your comforting bowl of spaghetti aglio e olio!
Notes
If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop, adding a splash of olive oil or reserved pasta water to revive the dish.
