- Step 1: Prepare the rice according to package instructions and allow it to cool slightly.
- Step 2: In a bento box or compartmentalized container, place a portion of the cooked rice in one section.
- Step 3: Arrange the cooked and seasoned vegetables next to the rice.
- Step 4: Add your chosen protein next to the vegetables.
- Step 5: Place the halved boiled egg in a separate section or on top of the rice.
- Step 6: Scatter the seaweed strips over the rice or place them in a small section of the bento.
- Step 7: Include pickles in another section of the container.
- Step 8: Optionally, garnish with sesame seeds, shiso leaves, or chopped green onions.
- Step 9: Serve with soy sauce on the side.
Notes
Ekiben can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Keep the soy sauce separate until serving.
