  • 1 whole chicken, spatchcocked
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional)
  • Fresh green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Method
 

  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Step 2: In a bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, olive oil, garlic, ginger, black pepper, and salt until well combined.
  3. Step 3: Place the spatchcocked chicken on a roasting pan, skin side up.
  4. Step 4: Brush the honey soy mixture generously over the chicken, ensuring it is well coated.
  5. Step 5: Roast in the preheated oven for 40-50 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) and the skin is golden brown.
  6. Step 6: Remove from the oven and let the chicken rest for 10 minutes.
  7. Step 7: Sprinkle with sesame seeds and garnish with chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven to retain the crispiness of the skin.
