For the Ochazuke
  • 1 cup cooked rice any type will do; jasmine or sushi rice works well
  • 2 cups hot green tea the fresher, the better
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce adjust to taste
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds for crunch and nutty flavor
  • 1 piece green onion finely chopped
  • 1 sheet nori (seaweed) cut into strips

Method
 

  1. Step 1: Place the cooked rice in a cozy bowl.
  2. Step 2: Heat the green tea in a pot until hot but not boiling.

  4. Step 4: Add the soy sauce to the mixture, adjusting to taste.
  5. Step 5: Sprinkle sesame seeds and chopped green onion on top.
  6. Step 6: Garnish with nori strips and any optional toppings.

Notes

Store leftover rice and toppings separately in the fridge. Rice keeps for about 3-4 days; toppings for 1-2 days.
