Method
- Step 1: Rinse the short-grain brown rice under cold water until the water runs clear. This removes excess starch and helps prevent the rice from being too sticky.
- Step 2: Place the rinsed rice in your rice cooker.
- Step 3: Add the appropriate amount of water. Generally, for every 1 cup of rice, you need about 2 cups of water, but always check your rice cooker’s instructions for accuracy.
- Step 4: If you like, add a pinch of salt to enhance the flavor.
- Step 5: Close the lid of the rice cooker and select the brown rice setting, if available.
- Step 6: Start the rice cooker and let it do its magic until the cycle is complete.
- Step 7: Once done, let the rice sit with the lid closed for about 10-15 minutes.
- Step 8: Finally, fluff the rice with a fork before serving.
Notes
Once cooled, store the rice in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4-5 days. You can also freeze the rice in portions for longer storage.
