Ingredients

For the Pork Tofu Soup
  • 1 lb pork (shoulder or belly) thinly sliced
  • 1 block firm tofu cubed
  • 4 cups chicken or pork broth
  • 2 cups water
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 medium onion sliced
  • 2 green onions chopped for garnish
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp ginger minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: chili flakes for heat

Equipment

  • Large Pot

Method

  1. Step 1: In a large pot, heat the sesame oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic, sliced onion, and ginger. Sauté until fragrant, about 2-3 minutes.
  2. Step 2: Add the sliced pork to the pot and cook until browned, stirring occasionally.
  3. Step 3: Pour in the chicken or pork broth and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer.
  4. Step 4: Add the cubed tofu to the pot. Allow it to cook for about 10 minutes, so it absorbs all those delicious flavors.
  5. Step 5: Stir in the soy sauce, and season with salt, pepper, and chili flakes if desired.
  6. Step 6: Add the chopped green onions just before serving for a fresh finish.
  7. Step 7: Serve hot and enjoy every comforting spoonful!

Notes

Let the soup cool completely before transferring it to an airtight container. It can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days or frozen in portions.
