Ingredients
  

For the Satsuma Age
  • 400 g fish fillets such as white fish
  • 100 g shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 1/4 cup green onions finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp ginger grated
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sake
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • Salt and pepper
  • Vegetable oil

Equipment

  • Food Processor
  • Frying Pan
  • Paper Towels

Method
 

  1. Step 1: In a food processor, combine the fish fillets and shrimp. Blend until the mixture is smooth.
  2. Step 2: Transfer the mixture to a bowl and add the green onions, ginger, soy sauce, sake, cornstarch, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.
  3. Step 3: Shape the mixture into small patties or oval shapes, about the size of a golf ball.
  4. Step 4: Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  5. Step 5: Fry the patties for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Step 6: Remove from the pan and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  7. Step 7: Serve hot and enjoy your homemade Satsuma Age!

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. They also freeze well!
